Message from the President,

My name is Anthony Kip Bertrand. I am the President of St. Landry Homestead Federal Savings Bank, and I want to welcome you to the Homestead’s  website.

We at the Homestead have been honored to serve the residents of Acadiana since 1922. The long term multi generational relationships we have forged with our clients have been the reason for the extraordinary success we enjoy today. Based on our positive experience over the years, we are constantly re-investing in St. Landry Parish.

I believe the Homestead is a special banking institution, a place where employees are proud of their past and excited about their future. Above all, it is a banking institution defined by the character and integrity of its people. That’s why we have grown our bank based on the positive experience drawn from our clients, and we are constantly seeking and deliberately attracting the most capable, nicest, and most driven individuals to join our banking institution.

At The Homestead, we realize the tremendous challenges and opportunities our clients face today. That is why we will try to accommodate every circumstance. Our ultimate goal is to support our communities and industries as they grow and prosper. If you’re involved with an endeavor that requires any of our services, I would be honored to earn your trust and become a valued partner in the process.

Our website will provide you with some interesting background and insights into our bank. However, if you really want to get to know us, then contact any of our three locations. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your financial needs.

Thank you for visiting our website, and head in to the Homestead!

Respectfully yours,

Kip

The following is an article featured in the June 2010 issue of the Greater Lafayette Business Journal:

Founded in November 1922, St. Landry Homestead Federal Savings Bank, fondly known throughout St. Landry Parish as “The Homestead, is striving to step into the future without sacrificing the “old time customer service” that its patrons have enjoyed over the last 88 years. Online banking with mobile banking and online bill pay is scheduled to begin this fall to better serve existing customers and offer services to that segment of the population that lives and operates in today’s media-directed environment.

Under the leadership of its new President, Anthony Kip Bertrand, The Homestead, which is in a strong financial position with $274. 1 million in assets as of December 31, 2009, is aggressively looking to better serve long-time clients and establish new life-long financial relationships. The bank has 3 locations, Opelousas, Eunice, and Port Barre, with its primary focus on residential mortgage lending, which accountsfor about 70 percent of its business. The bank also offers commercial and consumer lending.

Mr. Bertrand, a native of Eunice and graduate of ULM and LSU Law School, served as an Assistant District Attorney and was in private practice as he worked for another local bank before being selected as President ofSt. Landry Homestead. After taking the helm in January, his goal his been to institute the latest technologies to keep the financial institution vibrant well into the future.

The untimely death of the former president, Mr. Harold Fontenot, presented Bertrand with the unique opportunity to direct the futureof one of the few remaining mutual institutions in Louisiana.

Mr.Fontenot was very loved by the community and the institution he served as President for over 20 years.” Bertrand says. “He helped people get their start, many of whom became lifelong customers. My goal is to continue that tradition of unparalleled customer care by holding on to those time-honored traditions of the past while offering the innovations and technology of the future.”

St. Landry Homestead’s strong capital position and experienced staff paves the way for its journey into the future.
